NBN Co NDF Explained
In some cases, NBN Co charges Superloop $300 when a new nbn™ service is activated for the first time in an area NBN Co have designated as a 'New Development'. This $300 is subsequently passed along to the customer that has requested the service from Superloop.
Key points:
- Superloop will advise you if NBN Co requires this fee to be paid prior to activating a service, and you must first accept this fee before we submit an order request with NBN Co.
- If you place an order online, you must be completely sure you have entered the correct address. If we request a service from NBN Co at an address you have requested from us, and an NDF is required and you have accepted it, but the address is incorrect, you may be required to pay the NDF for the incorrect address.
- This fee is not the same as the fees and charges that a developer has already paid to NBN Co to register the new property development with NBN Co while the property was still being developed.
What is the NDF?
Since 01 April 2016, NBN Co have introduced a $300 New Development Fee which is to be charged for all new nbn™ connection activations in the following instances:
- The very first nbn™ service activation at a property that resides in an nbn™ 'New Development' area (such as in a brand new estate with no pre-existing telecommunications lines or infrastructure)
- For new connection activations in a pre-existing nbn™ enabled area where a developer has increased the amount of properties at a given location since nbn™ was ready for service in that area (for example; if an existing property is demolished and the land is sub-divided to make way for a duplex or block of units), and
- in some cases where a property in an existing nbn™ ready area is demolished and re-developed.
What if the NDF was paid to a previous provider, does it need to be paid again?
No. However, NBN Co might ask for proof that this fee has been paid once before. If NBN Co decide that a premises requires an NDF payment, we will have to provide them with either the $300 or a receipt showing that the fee was paid to a previous provider. If a receipt does not exist, then you may be obligated to pay the NDF to NBN Co again.
I Thought the Developer Has Already Paid This Fee?
The $300 NDF is not to be confused with the fees and charges a property developer pays directly to NBN Co when they undergo the nbn™ 'New Development Process' to get the new property registered with NBN Co and get the pre-install work done.
