Service drop outs
This article will go over some troubleshooting steps if your internet is dropping out
- Do the lights on your router change when a drop occurs?
- Do you notice the dropout on all devices?
Internet dropping out?
Many factors can cause what appears to be a dropout; however may not be the actual internet connection that is dropping out, because of this the first step is to work out where the dropouts are coming from.
Router lights
If it is the actual internet connection that is dropping out, you will notice that the internet light (which is usually a symbol of a globe or planet) goes off or a red or orange colour, that would meant that the internet connection itself is dropping out.
All devices
If the internet light remains green or on, it could be a case where the internet itself is dropping out, in which case that makes it a bit harder to get to the bottom of the issue. When you do notice a dropout it's best to check if the internet is not connected on all of your devices.
A common cause of perceived dropouts is actually wireless interference. To learn more about wireless interference, please click here.
